The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has officially disclosed the schedule for the upcoming PM Cup women's national cricket tournament, slated to unfold from December 21 to January 3.
In a groundbreaking move, CAN revealed that the tournament will adopt a round-robin format, including playoffs and a final – a first in the history of the competition. The tournament will witness the participation of seven provincial teams alongside one departmental side, Armed Police Force (APF), all vying for supremacy in the T20 format. A total of 32 matches are scheduled over the course of 14 days, with each day featuring four matches, split between two venues – TU and Mulpani Cricket Ground. Notably, all knockout stage matches are slated to unfold at TU Cricket Ground.
The tournament's inaugural clash will witness Bagmati Province taking on Madhesh Province, while Sudurpaschim will lock horns with APF in the opening encounters.
As the league stage concludes, the top two teams will enter Qualifier 1, where the winner will earn a direct ticket to the final. Simultaneously, teams finishing in the third and fourth positions will engage in the eliminator, determining which team advances to face the losing side from Qualifier 1. This innovative format adds an extra layer of excitement and competition to the PM Cup, promising an exhilarating cricket spectacle for fans and players alike.
